Why Marmoush to Man City could impact Milan’s pursuit of Gimenez from Feyenoord
The January transfer window is well-underway, and Manchester City’s recent signing of Omar Marmoush could spark a chain reaction that impacts Milan and their pursuit of Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez.
According to reports on Wednesday, Milan have an agreement in principle on personal terms with Gimenez, who scored a brace against Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday night, but the Rossoneri do not yet have an agreement with his current employers, Feyenoord.
While reports from Footmercato claim that Milan continue to discuss a fee in the region of €35m-€40m for the Mexico international, the Rossoneri could now face stiff competition from Olympique de Marseille as a result of Omar Marmoush’s move to Manchester City.
Why Man City and Marmoush could impact Milan and Gimenez
City officially confirmed the signing of Marmoush on a €75m deal from Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday morning. The Bundesliga side are now on the lookout for a replacement centre-forward.
According to reports on Thursday afternoon, Frankfurt have a deal in place to sign Elye Wahi from Marseille as a replacement for Marmoush.
If that deal does go through, then Marseille will also be on the lookout for a new centre-forward in January, and Footmercato claim that they, like Milan, could also turn to Feyenoord and Gimenez as a replacement.
