The night did not get off to a good start for Sergio Conceicao’s side. They fell 1-0 down in the second half, and were then reduced to 10 men after Yunus Musah was shown his second yellow card of the game in the 40th minute.
Though Christian Pulisic drew Milan level, the Rossoneri fell behind again shortly afterwards. Zagreb had actually had the ball in the back of the net four times over the course of the game when their second goal was given.

Leao thought he had won his team a glorious opportunity to level the scores again, falling over goalkeeper Ivan Nevisic’s arm on the edge of the six-yard box, which originally earned the stopper a booking.
However, after a lengthy VAR check, a foul was eventually given against Leao for an elbow on a Zagreb defender in the build-up.
