Why Jan Oblak was a last-minute scratch from Atlético’s squad to face Athletic Club
An explanation for the absence of Jan Oblak from Atlético Madrid’s matchday squad to take on Athletic Club has this evening been provided.
Atlético, of course, are primed to return to action in short order.
In the midst of something of a hit-and-miss opening to the campaign, the Rojiblancos have made the trip to Bilbao, for a meeting with the aforementioned Athletic.
Diego Simeone’s troops will head head into proceedings with sights on just a 2nd win from four over the last couple of weeks.
In efforts to secure as much, however, Atléti will be forced to make do without an absolutely integral member of the club’s first-choice XI.
Upon the capital giants’ starting line-up to face Athletic being unveiled a short time ago, Oblak was nowhere to be seen, with summer signing Juan Musso instead taking his place between the posts:

So, where exactly is Oblak?
As alluded to above, a short time ago, an explanation for as much was forthcoming online.
As per a statement across Atlético’s social media platforms, the Slovenian international is dealing with a bout of ‘digestive problems’:
Jan Oblak is left out of the squad due to an indisposition caused by digestive problems.
