Why Gavi was furious with Barcelona teammate Robert Lewandowski during Atlético clash
Barcelona star Gavi was caught repeatedly scolding teammate Robert Lewandowski during the club’s meeting with Atlético Madrid on Saturday.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who have today provided an insight into the situation.
Both Gavi and Lewandowski featured from the off on Saturday night, as Barcelona welcomed the aforementioned Atlético to Catalunya’s capital for a top-of-the-table La Liga showdown.
When all was said and done following a 2-1 Blaugrana defeat, the former was widely praised for his performance, with frontman Lewandowski having been the recipient of heavy criticism.
The Pole was far from his best over the course of the 90 minutes, with as much having evidently not been lost on his teammates.
As per a report from Sport, late in the first-half on Saturday, Gavi was caught repeatedly shouting at Lewandowski to up the intensity of his pressing on Atlético’s backline.
This came after Clément Lenglet was too easily allowed to step out and spray passes to fellow members of Diego Simeone’s squad.
After Gavi’s pleas were not answered first time round, the youngster continued to go at his veteran teammate, with it added that ‘at the end of the first half, Gavi was still angry with the situation, so he approached Lewandowski to transfer it to him directly’.
A short conversation between the pair followed, before Gavi confided in midfield partner Pedri as the pair made their way from the pitch.
