WHL's Hitmen Enter CHL Top Ten For First Time In 2024-25 Season
How about those Hitmen?
The Canadian Hockey League released their weekly top 10 on Wednesday, and along with the usual suspects, one team is putting the rest of North American junior hockey on notice.
Everett Silvertips (3 --> 3)
The WHL's top club continues to dominate, holding a 12-point lead over the second place Spokane Chiefs. Everett has gone nine games recording at least one point in the standings, their last regulation loss coming on Dec. 9 against the Wenatchee Wild. The Silvertips also got some reinforcements over deadline week, picking up a returning Austin Roest from the American Hockey League. While he hasn't played a game since the 2024 Playoffs, Roest will undoubtedly be a major addition to an already stacked roster.

Spokane Chiefs (10 --> 10)
Speaking of stacked rosters, Spokane made arguably the biggest trade of the deadline, acquiring Kelowna Rockets star Andrew Cristall. Despite going pointless in his debut, Cristall paid it back with interest as he tallied seven (!) points the following night against Wenatchee. Alongside Seattle Kraken prospect Berkly Catton and goals leader Shea Van Olm, the trio are poised to become the most lethal line in the CHL.

Calgary Hitmen (Unranked --> 8)
Not a pushover by any means, Calgary took a little while to heat up this season. With just one win in their first six games, the Hitmen have exploded; none more than 2025 NHL Draft prospect Ben Kindel, who made history by breaking the Hitmen record for longest point streak at 21 games. (By the way, it's still going- as of this article, Kindel is at 23 games.) Not to mention Oliver Tulk, who sits in a three-way tie for second as the WHL's point leader at 66 points.
