WHL team releases staff member after derogatory comments
After Bill Peters’ racist remarks and Mike Babcock’s emotional abuse, the hockey world has taken notice that this behaviour should not be tolerated anymore.
On Monday afternoon, the WHL’s Swift Current Broncos of the WHL announced that they have released their Head Athletic Trainer and Equipment Manager, Jamie LeBlanc, after noticing a “recent pattern of demeaning and derogatory comments.”

LeBlanc was in his 15th season as the Broncos’ Head Athletic Trainer — his second of two stints after he left the team in 2005, returning four years later.
He has also been involved with Hockey Canada, serving as the Equipment Manager for the 2012 World U-18 Championship and more recently the 2017 Canada Russia Series for Team WHL.
The recognition of this issue is clearly not just staying within the NHL, but will continue throughout all levels of hockey.
