WHL At The 2025 World Juniors: Czechia Topples Slovakia, Canada Shuts Out Germany To Close Day Four

As 10 teams enter the home stretch of round robin play at the 2025 World Junior Championships, more strong performances have come out of the woodwork.

Team Czechia knocks off Slovakia in close affair

Both Edmonton Oil Kings forwards recorded a point in Sunday's clash with Slovakia, as Adam Jecho and Miroslav Holinka both recorded an assist to propel Czechia to a 4-2 victory. Jecho had an impressive showing, considering he logged fewer than nine minutes of ice time.

Team Switzerland battles but comes up short against Sweden

Despite going down by a score of 7-2, the Swiss would not bow out. Lethbridge Hurricanes forward Leo Braillard tallied two goals in a late effort to help bring the game to 7-5 but that is how the game would finish. Braillard totalled five shots in just under 17 minutes of ice time.

Finland topples Team USA in overtime thriller

In what is considered the closest matchup of the day, Team Finland took a 4-3 overtime win against the Americans. Everett Silvertips forward Julius Miettinen scored the tying goal to make it 2-2, and added two more shots on goal while being an instrumental part of the Finnish victory.

Team Canada narrowly edges Germany with late goals

After a major upset at the hands of Latvia on Saturday, Team Canada redeemed themselves against the Germans. Berkly Catton (Spokane Chiefs) assisted on the opening goal, while looking quite dangerous alongside Medicine Hat Tigers forward Gavin McKenna. That marker would stand for nearly two full periods, until Caden Price (Kelowna Rockets) banked a shot off the end wall and off the German goaltender with just under five to play in regulation. Seattle Thunderbirds blueliner Sawyer Mynio also recorded an assist for his first point of the tournament and Tanner Molendyk (Saskatoon Blades) led the team in ice time with just under 23 minutes.

On the German front, another Blades skater in David Lewandowski continues to boost his stock for the 2025 NHL Draft with a strong showing and putting on an impressive work ethic.
