Where things stand with Jalen Ramsey’s availability for season opener

Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who is nursing a hamstring injury, will play on Sunday against Jacksonville.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said at 4 a.m. Sunday morning that Ramsey “will attempt to play today” but “either way, he won’t be a full go. But he’s planning to give it a try on a pitch count.”

The Dolphins did not list him among their inactives for the game and he intends to play.

Ramsey practiced Friday but has practiced only twice in three weeks because of the hamstring injury.

“It’s tough,” he said on Friday of the hamstring and the decision about playing in the opener. “First time I’ve ever had a hamstring. Even times I felt like I’m good, I had to trust the training staff to know even if you feel like that, we can’t have you go crazy.”

Ramsey was asked about the Dolphins playing two games in five days -- Sunday and then Thursday at home against Buffalo.

“That’s a big key to this whole equation, two games in five days,” he said. “Maybe people don’t realize that’s huge. Never trying to look ahead like that. [But] taking everything into the equation you got to think about it all.”

Only one other Dolphin had an injury designation for the game: receiver Malik Washington, who is out with a quadriceps injury. Robbie Chosen was elevated from the practice squad for the game.

If Ramsey’s snaps are limited, cornerback Ethan Bonner could pick up some of those snaps opposite starter Kendall Fuller.

When Ramsey is on the sideline, Miami also could use safety Jevon Holland in the slot, Kader Kohou (and Fuller) on the boundary and Jordan Poyer and Marcus Maye at safety.
