Where is Filip Forsberg? Predators Winger's Goal Drought Extends to 14 Games

It has been more than a month since Filip Forsberg last scored a goal for the Nashville Predators.

His last goal came Nov. 25 in a 5-2 loss to the New Jersey Devils. Since then, Forsberg has put 44 shots on net over 14 games, averaging more than three per contest, without a single goal to show for it.

Forsberg has just nine goals through 36 games this season, putting him on pace for 20.5 goals in 2024-25. The last time he scored fewer than 20 goals in a single season was in 2022-23, when he scored 19 goals in 42 games and missed nearly half the season with an injury.

Forsberg's goal scoring drought is especially disappointing in light of the fact that he is coming off a career season in 2023-24 that saw him score 48 goals, setting a new Predators single-season record.

Make no mistake, however; Forsberg's impact is still being felt by the Predators. He is currently riding a six-game point streak, recording 11 assists over that span. In addition to leading Nashville in helpers with 21, he also quietly leads the team with 30 points on the season.

The Predators' offense has shown marked improvement since Forsberg joined Jonathan Marchessault and Steven Stamkos on the top forward line. Marchessault and Stamkos have seen a steady increase in offensive production and lead the team in goals with 13 and 11, respectively.

Marchessault has been particularly hot of late, setting a new career high with an eight-game point streak after scoring a power-play goal in Friday's loss to the St. Louis Blues. Forsberg has been a big part of that. But for as much as his point production has helped the team, his goal scoring drought has continued to hurt them.

The Predators currently sit in seventh place in the Central Division with 29 points, three points ahead of the last-place Chicago Blackhawks. If they have a prayer at fighting their way into the playoff conversation this season, Forsberg is a guy they desperately need to start scoring goals – and soon.
