Where Will Captain's Letters Be On Capitals Jerseys With Ads & 50th Anniversary Patch On Both Home & Road Sweaters? Here's A Look
The Washington Capitals have a lot going on with their jerseys this season, as both their home and road jerseys will have advertisements, along with the 50th anniversary patch this season.
On Monday, the Capitals announced that TikTok would be the team's sponsor on their road jerseys. Caesars Sportsbook will remain the advertiser on the home sweaters. Those ads will be on the right chest, while the 50th anniversary patch will be featured on the left chest.
That said, there was some question as to where the placement of the advertisements and commemorative patch would impact the team's captain's letters for Alex Ovechkin and alternates John Carlson, T.J. Oshie (if he plays) and Tom Wilson.
John Carlson offered a glance at where those will be placed as he posed in the jersey at NHL Media Day. It looks like it will remain on the front of their jerseys and to the left of the 50th anniversary patch.

Washington isn't the first team to run into tight space on the front of its jerseys. The Florida Panthers had to balance advertisements with the 2024 Stanley Cup Final patch during this postseason, leading to the letters looking a bit cluttered on the front of the jersey. Florida does have "captain" and "alternate" on the players' sleeves to also designate their roles.
The Capitals and NHL are also in the process of transferring from Adidas to Fanatics as the league's new jersey provider.
Washington will also reportedly have a third jersey, which appears to be a play on the black Reverse Retro "Screaming Eagle" sweaters that the team wore in 2022-23. That jersey has not been officially announced yet, though.
The Capitals open their new year with training camp on Sept. 19.
