The Miami Hurricanes’ perfect season continued with a 36-14 win over the Florida State Seminoles on Saturday.

And now, the Hurricanes are a top-five team.

Miami checked in at No. 5 in the latest edition of the AP poll released on Sunday, one spot up from the No. 6 ranking the Hurricanes had held for the past three weeks. UM swapped spots with Texas to move to No. 5.

It’s the first time since 2017 that Miami has been ranked in the top-five of the AP poll.

The Hurricanes are a perfect 8-0 this season, including 4-0 in Atlantic Coast Conference play. They are one of eight Football Bowl Subdivision teams that are still undefeated, along with Oregon, Penn State, Iowa State, BYU, Indiana, Pittsburgh and Army.

The Hurricanes began the season ranked No. 19 before moving up to No. 12 after Week 1, No. 10 after Week 2, No. 8 after Week 3 and No. 7 after Week 4 before falling to No. 8 after Week 5, moving up to No. 6 after Week 6 and staying there for two weeks before the bump up on Sunday.

Miami’s move up was one of several shakeups in the poll.

The top four remained the same in No. 1 Oregon, No. 2 Georgia, No. 3 Penn State and No. 4 Ohio State.

Following the Miami and Texas flip, the rest of the top 10 is No. 7 Tennessee (no change), No. 8 Notre Dame (up four spots), No. 9 BYU (up two spots) and No. 10 Texas A&M (up four spots).

Clemson and Iowa State, who were respectively ranked No. 9 and 10 last week, are tied for No. 11.

The Hurricanes next host Duke on Saturday, with kickoff scheduled for noon and the game televised on ABC.
