Yahoo Sports What's the Perfect Configuration for a Porsche 718 Cayman?
Porsche just released the latest iteration of its entry-level sports car, the 718 Cayman, this week, so instead of actually working, I'm playing with the car configurator on its site. After much trial and tribulation, I think I've come up with the perfect 718 Cayman S, but maybe you disagree. What's your perfect 718 Cayman look like?
Starting with the exterior, I went with Porsche's wonderful Graphite Blue Metallic, which looks like a modern interpretation of some of the greys it offered in the 1960s. The 20" 911 Turbo wheels are probably too expensive at $3560, but I think they look great, and this is my fantasy configuration, not real life. I specified Bi-Xenon headlights with corner-following lamps, which are a semi-reasonably priced at $970.
As for performance options, I stuck with the standard manual transmission and opted for PASM Sport Suspension, Sport Chrono Package, and the Sport Exhaust. No lack of "Sport" on this 718 Cayman S.
Inside, I sprung for Porsche's more heavily bolstered Sport Seat Plus seats, but not for the expensive, heavy power adjustments. The only infotainment option is a Bose hi-fi, and an Alcantara steering wheel and shift knob round things out.
Total price is $83,900, which certainly isn't cheap, but not horrible as modern Porsches go. I could save a lot of money going for a different set of wheels, but the Turbo wheels look so choice on the new Cayman.
