West Virginia players enter transfer portal after Bob Huggins' resignation, per reports

The exodus has begun for the West Virginia men's basketball program as a trio of players hit the transfer portal following head coach Bob Huggins' resignation.

Huggins quit after 16 seasons at his alma mater one day after he was charged with driving under the influence in Pittsburgh. He was previously suspended by the school for the first three games of the 2023-24 season after using a homophobic slur multiple times during a radio interview.

According to multiple reports, forward Tre Mitchell and point guards Kerr Kriisa and Joe Toussaint entered the transfer portal in the past week.

Mitchell played in all 34 games last season, averaging 11.7 points and 5.5 rebounds. He will be looking for his third school as he previously played at UMass and Texas.

Kriisa played at Arizona last season and transferred to West Virginia after the season. He averaged 9.9 points and led the Pac-12 with 5.1 assists per game. He will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Toussaint averaged 9.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists for the Mountaineers last season.

Each player has 30 days from the time Huggins left West Virginia to find a new school without having to apply for a waiver or sit out a season.
