West Ham secured a huge London derby win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon, edging their rivals 1-0 thanks to a second-half Michail Antonio goal.

David Moyes’ men moved into the top four of the Premier League with the home victory, making it back-to-back wins this week after their comfortable Europa League outing against Genk on Thursday. Tottenham, meanwhile, suffered their second straight loss, following their defeat by Vitesse in the Europa Conference League – also on Thursday. The result saw Nuno Espirito Santo’s team drop to sixth in the table, too, as the Portuguese’s time as Spurs boss continues to disappoint fans of the north London club.

While the match at the London Stadium largely lacked the fireworks that this fixture so often produces, Antonio provided the spark for West Ham celebrations in the 72nd minute, when he stuck out a leg to convert an Aaron Cresswell corner at the near post. It was Antonio’s sixth goal of the season – his fifth in the Premier League – and marked Cresswell’s third assist of the week after his contributions in the home win against Genk. Follow all the fallout from West Ham’s Premier League victory over rivals Tottenham Hotspur below.

Manchester United vs Liverpool result: Mohamed Salah scores hat-trick in humiliating rout

18:44 , Michael Jones

Imagine if Liverpool had actually played well. As such, it would be hard to imagine any other outcome than Ole Gunnar Solskjaer losing his job – except this is Manchester United.

This is Manchester United.

And here they were, 4-0 down at half-time to their greatest rivals, to ultimately lose 5-0 but in a way that felt like 9-0. They were fortunate it wasn’t much worse, but that was in its own way an indictment. Liverpool could just ease off.

Reaction from Mo Salah

18:40 , Michael Jones

Liverpool’s hat-trick hero spoke to Sky Sports after the match and was obviously delighted with the performance of his team. He said:

I think it is great to win 5-0 here, we knew before the game it would be tough if we did not play our game.

“We knew they will come and try to give everything so we had to give 100%.We just tried to play our football and play in between the lines to create more chances. We did that and were lucky to score.

“As long as the team keep winning I am happy and to give my best to the team to win. The first goal I gave to Naby Keita to score.

“We know what it takes to win the Premier League, we did it two years ago. A big win here but still only three points.

“We try to win each game and try to win the title. We need to play to win everything. From our heads from pre-season, we need to win the Premier League and hopefully we go for that.

“After half-time we were talking in the dressing room to just keep going and score as many as we could.”

That defeat is Manchester United’s heaviest ever defeat at home to Liverpool, whilst it’s the first time they have lost by 5+ goals at home without scoring themselves since February 1955 when they lost 5-0 against Man City.

Mohamed Salah is already comfortable in the company of Liverpool legends

16:12 , Michael Jones

Anyone who doubts Mohamed Salah’s greatness is delusional. The Liverpool striker is not just one of the finest players in the world. He is up there with the very best in the club’s history. That puts the 29-year-old in a very elite group.

There have been so many wonderful stars in the Anfield galaxy that it takes a special individual to be worthy of comparison. In living history Kenny Dalglish tops the pile, with John Barnes and Steven Gerrard able to make a case that they are the most illustrious. Graeme Souness is in the mix but the midfielder’s role was so different to Salah’s that it would be foolish to contrast the two. One thing is clear: the Egyptian has crashed the top five.

Cristiano Ronaldo believes Manchester United are in a period of adaptation since his shock summer return to Old Trafford, but says that he is ready to “sacrifice” to help the team achieve its goals.

The 36-year-old has scored six goals in eight appearances after re-joining the club he left in 2009 from Juventus in August, including late Champions League winners against both Villarreal and Atalanta to ensure the Red Devils stand top of their group with three matches played.

48 mins: Tottenham start the second half on the front foot. Skipp threads a lovely pass into the right side of the box where Ndombele runs in behind Cresswell. He sends the ball across the penalty area hoping to pick out Kane but Fabianski dives at the ball and plucks it out of the air for West Ham.

Kick off: No changes for either team at the break. Tottenham are yet to draw a game under Nuno Espirito Santo, they’re are the only team left in the Premier League that haven’t drawn a match this season.

The Hammers restart the action.

Man Utd vs Liverpool

It was in doubt as to whether Bruno Fernandes would be fit enough to play for Manchester United but it seems he is fit to play against Liverpool later today.

The full team news will be out in around half an hours time.

Manchester United, Mauricio Pochettino and what might have been

It is eerily quiet in the southwest of the French capital. The Parc des Princes has been fully vacated with the hot-dog sellers trolleying home and the neighbouring restaurants shuttering up.

Right here, through the silence in the shadow of the stadium, screams a fact: Paris is the location where two of Manchester United’s biggest decisions in recent years were made, which ultimately led to it becoming the home of former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino.

This was not how it was designed to be. This still feels… off.

West Ham 0 - 0 Tottenham

I said before kick off that this might be a fixture decided by the opening goal. It’s been a close fought affair so far with both teams creating chances but unable to convert.

It hasn’t been an electric, overly-exciting match. A lot of the first half was contested in the middle of the pitch with both teams having their periods on the ball.

The game needs a goal to up the intensity. Neither team will want to lose this one.

Half-time: West Ham 0 - 0 Tottenham

14:48 , Michael Jones

45+1 mins: Goalless at half-time then but chances created at both ends. Tottenham ended the half as the better team by a very slim margin. The quality of their chances being slighty better.

Kane, Son and Ndombele all had fantastic opportunities inside the box but Fabianski denied them. Cresswell and Fornals have looked good for West Ham and there’s a real battle developing between Antonio and Romero.

Nothing to separate the teams yet though.

West Ham 0 - 0 Tottenham

14:45 , Michael Jones

45 mins: SAVE! Skipp loses possession but Hojbjerg is quick on the press to win it back. He pokes the ball forward to Moura who sends it out to Reguilon on the left. He floats a cross into the box post where Kane leaps over Cresswell, hangs in the air and lunges a headed effort at goal only to be denied by Fabianski who cuts underneath the ball and pushes it over the crossbar!

West Ham 0 - 0 Tottenham

14:42 , Michael Jones

42 mins: Chance! Lucas Moura slides the ball up to Kane who shifts it out to Reguilon on the left wing. The defender takes him time with the cross and picks out Ndombele’s run into the six-yard area. Ndombele wins the header and knocks it straight into the hands of Fabianski. A yard either way and that’s a goal.

West Ham 0 - 0 Tottenham

14:39 , Michael Jones

39 mins: There’s an opportunity for Tottenham to break in behind after Ndombele prods the ball into the box from high up the pitch. The ball has already gone as Ogbonna clips Ndombele knocking him over and giving Spurs a free kick high up the pitch.

Ogbonna is booked for the challenge and the free kick is curled the box. Antonio’s header drops to Ndombele who shoots and wins a corner when Zouma blocks his effort.

West Ham 0 - 0 Tottenham

14:37 , Michael Jones

36 mins: Chance! West Ham’s best opportunities have come from the left side. Cresswell and Fornals are linking up beautifully to create enough space to cross the ball. Fornals whips one in this time as Soucek runs into the box from deep. Reguilon is marking Bowen and doesn’t see Soucek’s approach letting the big midfielder leap in front of him to meet to the cross. He gets a good chunk of the ball with his headed effort but sends it wide of the back post.

West Ham 0 - 0 Tottenham

14:34 , Michael Jones

33 mins: West Ham work the ball down the left and Antonio tries to drive into the box. He’s forced to knock the ball back to Bowen who flicks a header onto Soucek. Soucek chips the ball over to the right side of the box where Johnson runs onto the pass and smokes it wide of the near post going for power over accuracy.

West Ham 0 - 0 Tottenham

14:32 , Michael Jones

30 mins: Tottenham have started to take over in terms of possession with West Ham’s attacking play primarily coming on the counter-attack. It’s a tactical battle at the minute with neither team really getting on top of the other.

West Ham 0 - 0 Tottenham

14:30 , Michael Jones

27 mins: Johnson sends a throw in up to Antonio who brings it down and gets dragged to the floor by Oliver Skipp. West Ham win a free kick and take it quickly working the ball over to the left side to try a hit Spurs unawares but the visitors regain their shape quickly and force the Hammers to retreat.

West Ham 0 - 0 Tottenham

14:26 , Michael Jones

24 mins: Big chance! Benrahma sends the ball up to Antonio but he’s pressed immediatel by Romero who wins the ball and pokes to Ndombele. Ndombele makes perfect pass into the right side of the box as Son flies through the defensive line. He takes over possession as Kane makes a run to the back post. Son goes for goal but doesn’t beat the goalkeeper and Kane throws his arms up in the air. He was wide open!

West Ham 0 - 0 Tottenham

14:23 , Michael Jones

21 mins: Chance! Benrahma plays Antonio in behind the lines and the striker shoves Romero out of the way to get to the ball. He cuts it back into the box and a deflection off Dier, I think, bobbles the ball out to the arriving Fornals who skews his effort just wide of the far post.

Tottenham then create a good chance themselves as Son is played in between the two Hammers centre-backs and carries the ball into the box. He weaves and shifts the ball but can’t get around the covering Cresswell. The ball comes loose and Lucas Moura collects with his back to goal. He shoots on the turn but the fires his chance wide of the right-hand post!

West Ham 0 - 0 Tottenham

14:18 , Michael Jones

18 mins: Nearly. Declan Rice pulls a clearance over to the left side of the pitch where Fornals is free. It turns out to be a great pass for West Ham who burst forward on the counter-attack. Fornals flicks a diagonal pass over to the right side of the penalty box as Antonio chases it down. He’s racing Lloris to the ball but the Tottenham goalkeeper gets there first and boots it away.

West Ham 0 - 0 Tottenham

14:16 , Michael Jones

15 mins: West Ham win a throw in on the left wing and Cresswell chucks the ball to Antonio as he makes a run in behind the Spurs back line. Antonio crosses it into the box and Thomas Soucek volleys it on the spin but spoons his effort high over the goal.

West Ham 0 - 0 Tottenham

14:14 , Michael Jones

12 mins: Tanguy Ndombele is tackled in the West Ham box by Kurt Zouma and goes to ground. There’s a half-appeal and a VAR check for a potential penalty but nothing comes of it. Ndombele hobbles off the pitch after a medical check up but he’s fine to play on.

West Ham 0 - 0 Tottenham

14:12 , Michael Jones

10 mins: Chance! At the other end of the pitch Son Heung-min wins the ball back from West Ham throw in and knocks it inside to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. He’s not got a great deal on in front of him so goes for goal and drills a shot straight into the hands of Fabianski from outside the area.

West Ham 0 - 0 Tottenham

14:10 , Michael Jones

7 mins: SAVE! Possession changes hands a few times in midfield with neither side managing to work the ball into the opponents final third. West Ham eventually work the ball out to Fornals on the left side before he passes it to Bowen in the middle. Ben Johnson makes a run off the ball over on the right and provides an option for Bowen. The right-back receives the pass and knocks into the box. Bowen collects the ball and whips a cross to the far side of the area where Fornals volleys it at goal and draws Lloris into a diving stop low to his right.

West Ham 0 - 0 Tottenham

14:04 , Michael Jones

3 mins: Aaron Cresswell was brilliant for West Ham against Genk on Thursday night, bombing forward on the left wing and whipping dangerous crosses into the box. He does so again here and wins an early corner for West Ham. Jarrod Bowen delivers it into the box, Hugo Lloris flaps it away but the ball comes out to Said Benrahma whose shot from just inside the box gets blocked and cleared away.

West Ham 0 - 0 Tottenham

14:02 , Michael Jones

Kick off: Tottenham get the ball rolling at the London Stadium. Cristian Romero sends a long ball through the middle of the pitch but Angelo Ogbonna gets to it before Harry Kane and blasts it straight back down the ground.

Here come the players. This is a tough game to call, the opening goal may be a big factor in deciding the results. West Ham will have more confidence after their win during the week and being at home but if Harry Kane and Son Heung-min click into gear Tottenham may run away with it.
