West Ham vs Manchester United – LIVE!

West Ham today host Manchester United in what could be a crunch Premier League clash. The Hammers have endured a difficult start to the season under Julen Lopetegui and were last week thrashed by Tottenham despite taking the lead. After a big summer spend, the pressure is on the Irons boss ahead of the meeting at the London Stadium.

Red Devils boss, Erik ten Hag, is a man used to working under pressure. Seemingly constantly tipped with an exit from Old Trafford, the Dutchman has seen his side embark on a four-game unbeaten run of late, albeit three of those results have been drawn.

While it would be too much to suggest either manager will be fearing for their jobs should they lose, there is little doubt another defeat would only increase the noise. Follow all the action with Standard Sport’s dedicated match blog! Dom Smith will be providing expert analysis from the ground!

Julen Lopetegui sends Mohammed Kudus warning as talks held after West Ham meltdown

West Ham vs Manchester United: Julen Lopetegui and Erik ten Hag look to heal wounds in Premier League clash

12:12 , Jonathan Gorrie

Free from the pressure-cooker environment of sitting in the top job, David Moyes must look on at the situations Erik ten Hag and Julen Lopetegui find themselves in and feel more than a dash of relief at no longer being head coach of either Manchester United or West Ham.

A meeting between the two sides at the London Stadium on Sunday will, more precisely, be a battle between two of the Premier League’s most under-pressure managers.

If the threat of a sacking is more pronounced for the Dutchman than for Lopetegui, then that is only because of how much longer Ten Hag has been in post. West Ham have won just two of eight league matches under their new manager.

Chairman David Sullivan’s decision this summer to hire a head coach of as much renown as Lopetegui to replace Moyes was born of the club’s ambition to kick on after three successive seasons in Europe spent pushing England’s top clubs in the league but with a style of play sometimes deemed risk-averse and, at its most criticised, backward.

Manchester United dealt big injury blow ahead of West Ham trip

11:56 , Jonathan Gorrie

Manchester United have been dealt a big injury blow ahead of their trip to face West Ham.

Antony was stretched off after suffering a sprained ankle against Fenerbahce on Thursday and was later seen wearing a protective boot and using crutches as he left the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium.

The Mail report that Antony's injury is not as bad as first feared but a timeframe on a return to training remains unclear.

In Antony's absence, Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford should again line up on the flanks against the Hammers, with Bruno Fernandes in the No10 role and Rasmus Hojlund leading the line.

West Ham vs Manchester United: Premier League score prediction today

11:32 , Jonathan Gorrie

West Ham have quite a good record without Kudus, but his absence will be felt, while United may have largely underwhelmed this season they do not concede many on the road.

Lopetegui will clearly demand a reaction and Ten Hag’s side don’t always convince, so a draw does not feel out of the question.

Draw, 1-1.

Manchester United team news vs West Ham today

11:31 , Jonathan Gorrie

Bruno Fernandes is available again for Manchester United to face West Ham after missing their Europa League draw with Fenerbahce due to suspension.

Jonny Evans is expected to be available and start alongside Matthijs de Ligt at centre-back at the London Stadium.

“We expect, of course, Bruno back and, hopefully, also Jonny Evans,” said United manager Erik ten Hag.

Lisandro Martinez will continue at left-back, with Diogo Dalot or Noussair Mazraoui on the right.

Mazraoui played at No10 against Fenerbahce on Thursday to cover for the absences of Fernandes and Mount.

Harry Maguire, Leny Yoro, Luke Shaw, Kobbie Mainoo and Mason Mount are all still out.

Antony added to United’s injury problems on Thursday when he went off on a stretcher in Turkey, with the winger seen on crutches.

West Ham team news vs Manchester United today

11:31 , Jonathan Gorrie

West Ham will be without the suspended Mohammed Kudus for today’s Premier League clash with Manchester United.

The forward was sent off during last weekend’s 4-1 loss at rivals Tottenham for clashing with Micky van de Ven, Richarlison and Pape Matar Sarr.

Kudus has since been charged by the Football Association (FA) for “allegedly acting in an improper manner and/or used violent conduct after the offence he was sent off for”.

Manager Julen Lopetegui has struggled in the opening few months of his tenure and could certainly do with what would be a statement win over the Red Devils on Sunday.

The Irons boss, however, will likely remain without striker Niclas Fullkrug as he continues to try and shake off a calf injury.
