West Ham target Evann Guessand evokes OGC Nice future
Evann Guessand (23) has been the subject of significant transfer speculation in recent days. The OGC Nice academy product is having a stellar season with his formative club, and that continued on Sunday night as he netted his tenth goal of the season against Olympique de Marseille. Post-match, he evoked his future.
As per L’Équipe, a departure in the summer looks a possibility, unless Nice qualify for the UEFA Champions League, which could convince him to remain at the Allianz Riviera. The publication added that a move abroad looked the most likely option, despite interest from Marseille. West Ham hold an interest in the €30m-rated forward and the Premier League club have even made contact with Guessand’s entourage.
A departure this month, however, looks unlikely as the Ivory Coast international confirmed himself in an interview with DAZN.
“I’m at Nice. The season is ongoing and we have objectives. I am fully focused on my club and the objectives that await us,” said the versatile forward.
Le Gym are also reticent to sell mid-season. The summer may, however, be a different proposition and should he continue on his current trajectory, the list of potential suitors will only multiply.
