West Ham remain in the hunt to sign Sergi Roberto following Barcelona exit

West Ham United are one of the clubs in the race to sign former Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto, according to Spanish outlet Sport (Page 7).

The 32-year-old is a free agent after his contract with the Catalan giants expired at the end of June. Roberto has spent his entire career at Barcelona, winning numerous domestic and European titles.

However, the Spaniard confirmed his departure from the Spotify Camp Nou over the weekend, leaving the door open for a new challenge.

West Ham are among several clubs interested in securing his services. The club has been linked to him for weeks and there is no smoke without fire.

Manager Julen Lopetegui worked with Roberto when he was the coach of the Spain national team, which could give the Hammers an edge in their pursuit.

Other clubs are vying for Roberto’s signature, including Sevilla, Fiorentina, AS Roma, Como and Ajax. With a wealth of experience and leadership qualities, the Spaniard could be a valuable addition to any team.

West Ham want to secure a deal for Roberto as they look to strengthen their squad and challenge for European qualification this season.

The Hammers have been active in the transfer market, signing Niclas Fullkrug, Max Kilman, Wes Foderingham, Crysencio Summerville, Luis Guilherme, Jean-Clair Todibo and Guido Rodriguez.

A deal for Aaron Wan-Bissaka is also in the works, with West Ham looking to upgrade Vladimir Coufal, who has interest from Besiktas.
