West Ham eye move for Galatasaray star Baris Alper Yilmaz

West Ham United are reportedly eyeing a swoop for Turkish forward Baris Alper Yilmaz, according to reports from Ilkhaber Gazetesi.

The Galatasaray star has caught the eye of the Hammers following his impressive performances at the 2024 European Championship.

Yilmaz is enjoying his holiday in London and is keen on moving to England. The forward is combining his vacation with English language lessons and physical training. He wants to make the Premier League his next destination.

Per the report, the 24-year-old has been working with a personal trainer and is in peak physical condition as he waits for a summer transfer.

West Ham will reportedly face stiff competition for Yilmaz’s signature from Aston Villa and Napoli.

Galatasaray have slapped a price tag of over £25 million on Yilmaz. The Hammers will need to dig deep if they are to secure the services of the talented forward.

West Ham have moved swiftly in the transfer market, signing Wes Foderingham, Luis Guilherme, and Max Kilman to bolster Julen Lopetegui’s squad ahead of next season.

The Irons are also in talks to add Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice and Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran to the squad. The club is reportedly in advanced negotiations to sign Noussair Mazraoui from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

West Ham should not sign Yilmaz

West Ham must avoid Yilmaz, who doesn’t move the needle. He is not better than any of West Ham’s current forwards.

Despite his impressive Euro 2024 tournament, he failed to score or assist. His 12-goal contributions in 37 Super Lig appearances do not scream excellence.

Also, despite being versatile enough to play across the forward line, he predominantly features on the right flank, where West Ham already have talisman Jarrod Bowen and Guilherme for cover.

West Ham must save any Yilmaz funds to reinforce other crucial areas of the squad instead.
