Yahoo Sports West Ham contact Metz over Georges Mikautadze
Georges Mikautadze (23) has been one of the breakout stars of the Euros. The forward’s performances with Georgia have helped the nation in their first major international tournament reach the round of 16 where they will play competition favourites Spain.
Before the Euros, Mikautadze was widely recognised in France as one of the most exciting talents in the league. His return to FC Metz from Ajax in the winter transfer window almost helped steer the club away from their eventual drop down into the second division and has earned him interest from a host of Ligue 1 sides.
However, it now appears that clubs from across Europe have taken a keen interest in the Georgian star. The Guardian reports that West Ham have made contact with Metz over the prospect of signing Mikautadze, although their bid has not yet been accepted. West Ham are also thought to be interested in Lille OSC’s Jonathan David (24) and Olympique Lyonnais defender Jake O’Brien (23).
