'We're All Together': Sharks Head Coach Joins End Of Practice Bag Skate

The San Jose Sharks finished Monday's practice with a small area game with two teams, and the loser had to do a miniature bag skate; the only difference was head coach Ryan Warsofsky joined them.

Warsofsky told reporters after practice that he used to join the losing team bag skate during his time in the American Hockey League and ECHL. Today's skate was the first time he's joined the skating team this season. He joked by saying, "I'm losing it. Getting older."

But in all seriousness, this action was meant to send a message to a San Jose Sharks team that has a record of 1-9-1 in its last 11 games.

"We're all part of it. We're all together," Warsofsky said. "It was just more on the spot. I'm no bigger than the team. No one else is bigger than the team. We're all in this together. We're going through a tough stretch here. We're going to stick together. It's the only way to get out of it."

The Sharks were moving in the right direction before this stretch. Although the record wasn't overly impressive, they had scored seven goals on the Los Angeles Kings, beat the Seattle Kraken on back-to-back nights, and defeated the Washington Capitals 2-1 on the road, all within a stretch of five games.

This slump began after the game against the Capitals, with the first game being the 8-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

"We're gonna get out of it. It's a stretch that we're going through. When you look at the result of it, it's not good, right," Warsofsky said. "We know that. It's very obvious to you guys, to the rest of the world. Are there some things that we're doing well? 100%. Are there some things that we need to get better at? 100%. We need to realize some situational hockey stuff that's going on, of course, and we get to learn and continue to get better each and every day, individually and as a group. There's some frustration when it comes to the result, but we do have a belief that we're going to get out of this. There's still a ton of belief in there and positivity that if we stick together and get better like we did today in practice, it will start translating here."
