Werder Bremen vs Bayern Munich: Predicted XI, confirmed team news and injury latest

Bayern Munich will look to maintain their 100 percent record when they face Werder Bremen at the Weserstadion in the Bundesliga on Saturday afternoon.

Vincent Kompany’s side come into this game following a rampant 9-2 win against Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday night, where Harry Kane became the highest-scoring Englishman in European competitions with 33 goals in 45 games, surpassing Wayne Rooney.

Sitting on nine points, Vincent Kompany’s side have enjoyed wins against Wolfsburg, Freiburg and Holstein Kiel, which puts them two points ahead of Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig.

But their game at the Weserstadion won’t be easy, as Ole Werner’s side remain one of five unbeaten teams in the Bundesliga this season with one win and two draws, while Die Werderaner enjoyed a 1-0 win against Bayern last season.

Werder Bremen team news

However, Werder Bremen will have to do it without captain Marco Friedl after the defender was sent off in their 2-1 win against Mainz last weekend. Amos Pieper is expected to come in for the Austrian in a back three for the hosts.

Bremen will also have to do without the pace of Justin Njinmah, who is sidelined with an ankle injury, and so Marco Grüll should start in his place.

Bayern Munich team news

Manuel Neuer was forced off and replaced by Sven Ulreich in midweek against Dinamo Zagreb after he complained of a thigh injury following a collision with Bruno Petković, but Kompany will make a late decision on who starts in goal for Bayern with the club not wanting to take any unnecessary risks.

Other than Neuer, Bayern are also without Sacha Boey for the foreseeable future, while Josip Stanišić is yet to play in the Bundesliga this season following a knee injury.
