'We'll Take The Win': Rod Brind'Amour On Win In Dallas

The Carolina Hurricanes grinded out a 2-1 win over the Dallas Stars Tuesday night at American Airlines Center to to secure a three-game winning streak for the first time since November.

Jesperi Kotkaniemi scored both goals for Carolina and Pyotr Kochetkov stopped 22 shots in the win.

After the game, Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour spoke with the media in Dallas. Here's what he had to say:

Rod Brind'Amour

On Jesperi Kotkaniemi:
Well I think he's been noticeable in the offense, which is great. A great shot there on the one goal and then driving the net and being heavy. He's a big kid and when you get him doing that kind of stuff, he's very noticeable. I thought that line was probably our best line in general. They were pretty solid. And obviously our goaltending was great tonight. That was the difference.

On what makes that line click: Yeah, I don't know. I think Robby helps. He's quick and get in on it and then Neci, we know that he's just kind of an elite player that does a bit of everything and obviously creates a lot of offense. I think if we can get KK playing like that where it's a little more straight line, then that helps. But that line was good. Obviously considering what we had to get through to get here. It was a tough game last night and then playing a top-notch team tonight. I thought we hung in there and we'll take the win.

On the game opening up more in the third period: It really never did. They weren't giving much and we were ahead and so we were fine with it, but then you kill a penalty and then they score right at the end of it. Like that was a real tough kind of sequence, but then next shift, we were able to get a break to answer it. That's your game right there.

On Pyotr Kochetkov: He had like three or four... Really, it was the same story as last night where guys were all alone in front and then he was able to shut it down for us. That's the position. We talk about it over and over and over. If our guy can be better than the guy at the other end, then we're usually in good shape.

On congratulations for his 500th career game as an NHL head coach: I appreciate you saying it. I'm not sure if that's a big milestone or not, but I guess it means you're hanging around, which is a positive.
