The Canucks started their week with some good news — that goaltender Thatcher Demko, who hadn’t played a game since April 21, would be starting their Tuesday night matchup against the St. Louis Blues. While Vancouver lost 4–3 in overtime, with all things considered, Demko didn’t look out of place one bit. In this game, Jake DeBrusk scored his 13th goal of the season, Brock Boeser snagged two assists, and the Canucks doubled the Blues in hits with 30.
On Thursday night, Canucks fans got to see J.T. Miller for the first time since he took a personal leave in mid-November. The forward collected two assists in the team’s 4–0 victory against the defending champion Florida Panthers. Kevin Lankinen posted his third shutout of the season, tying him for the league lead alongside Connor Hellebuyck and Sam Montembault.
In a Hockey Night in Canada matchup on Saturday night, Vancouver was thrashed 5–1 by the Boston Bruins in what may be one of the Canucks’ worst efforts this entire season. The lone tally came from Max Sasson, whose goal was his first in the NHL.
