The Canucks ended last week with an impressive 3–0 win against the Toronto Maple Leafs, However, the effort didn’t continue into this week. In their Tuesday matchup against the Winnipeg Jets, they surrendered a natural hat trick to Kyle Connor within the first period, falling 6–1 by the end of the game. Nils Höglander scored the lone goal for Vancouver, picking up his third of the season and ending his 34-game drought.

Fans expected Vancouver to bounce back against the L.A. Kings after such a disheartening game, but their Thursday night home game proved to be yet another disaster. They let in three goals in the first period, nearly repeating their previous hat trick-surrendering performance after Alex Turcotte tucked two in. Despite a goal from Quinn Hughes and a scrap between Tanner Jeannot and Vincent Desharnais, Vancouver lost 5–1.

Heading into their Saturday night game against the Edmonton Oilers, tensions were high for Vancouver. Rumours of an imminent J.T. Miller trade were churning — something that Elliotte Friedman confirmed only an hour before puck drop. However, the plans fell through, and Miller skated with his team. In one of their best first periods of a game this season, Vancouver went up 3–0 and Miller had two assists. Towards the end of the game, Conor Garland and Connor McDavid got into a skirmish, resulting in the Oilers captain cross-checking the Canucks forward. Only metres away, Tyler Myers committed the same act on Evan Bouchard. Both McDavid and Myers were assessed match penalties and are currently awaiting meetings with the NHL Department of Safety. Vancouver walked away from the game victorious with a 3–2 score.
