Week 11 fantasy wrap: Kirk Cousins tops Mostly NFL Notes

What a game Sunday night, with Washington and Green Bay totaling 34 points in the fourth quarter alone. Kirk Cousins and Aaron Rodgers combined for 730 passing yards with a 6:0 TD:INT ratio. Both played well, but Cousins was particularly impressive, as he completed 70.0 percent of his passes and got 12.5 YPA, finishing with a 145.8 passer rating. Cousins is now on pace to throw for 4,946 yards with 27 touchdowns. With a healthy DeSean Jackson and the emerging Rob Kelley (who added three rushing scores of his own), Washington is loaded on offense, and Cousins is clearly ready to take full advantage. Cousins has a challenging task ahead, as the team plays on the road each of its next three games (and four of its next five), but he sure looks like the real deal.

Rodgers’ 8.7 YPA was his highest in a game since Week 6 last season, and he once again led the Packers in rushing yards with 33. James Starks scored on a screen thanks to busted coverage, but he got just 2.8 YPC, as Green Bay continues to struggle run blocking…The Packers defense might very well be the best matchup for fantasy players right now. The Eagles are up next…He lost a fumble and usually disappoints, but Jared Cook is worth adding after this big game, as tight end remains a thin position…The Packers have lost four straight and now have to travel to Philly to play the Eagles in primetime Monday night.

Tough break for A.J. Green owners, as he entered Sunday on pace to shatter his previous career high in receiving yards but is likely done for the season. Tyler Boyd is now fantasy relevant…The Bills came in allowing the highest YPA in the NFL, and Andy Dalton at home managed just 4.8 yards-per-attempt while Mike Nugent missed another two extra points (an NFL-record 12 were shanked in Week 11) in yet another ugly performance by the 3-6-1 Bengals…Tyrod Taylor lost Robert Woods and has the weakest weapons to throw to in the league right now…LeSean McCoy was set for a big day before leaving with a thumb injury. The good news is he should be back soon, but the bad news is he missed the second half Sunday.

There were severe weather conditions, and Pittsburgh played mostly with the lead, but Ben Roethlisberger’s road woes continued, as he got just 4.6 YPA without a touchdown against a terrible Browns defense. Despite a matchup away from home, you’ll want to fire him up Thanksgiving night against the Colts in what figures to be a shootout…Le’Veon Bell saw 36 touches and scored a touchdown with zero seconds left in the first half. He’s just so fun to watch run…I would love to see Terrelle Pryor with a legit quarterback. Not that Cody Kessler was bad (9.1 YPA), but he left with another concussion, and Josh McCown was downright awful afterward…So much for this being a sneaky matchup for Isaiah Crowell…I’m beginning to think Cleveland might not win a game this year.

After failing to do so in any of the first eight games of his career, Dak Prescott has thrown for 300+ yards in back-to-back contests, and he sports an 8:0 TD:INT ratio over his past three. A Dallas/Seattle NFC Championship game looks so good on paper, it’s bound not to happen…Kenneth Dixon flashed, but it’s almost certain to remain a RBBC in Baltimore down the stretch…No Jimmy Smith led to a big game from Dez Bryant, who now gets a matchup against Josh Norman on Thanksgiving.

The Jaguars avoided becoming the first team ever not to force a turnover in its sixth straight game thanks to a Lions muffed punt, although Andre Roberts would soon make up for it by returning another punt to the house. That and Blake Bortles’ weekly pick-six led to a poor game script for those who started Matthew Stafford, as the QB failed to record a single TD at home against Jacksonville…Tight end Eric Ebron recorded Detroit’s second rushing score since Week 1…Facing a secondary that entered allowing the highest opposing passer rating in the NFL, Allen Robinson managed just 18 receiving yards, although at least he scored…The 6-4 Lions have trailed in the fourth quarter in every game this season.

The expected shootout in Indy saw just 13 total points in the second half, and DeMarco Murray was held to 3.3 YPC, while Frank Gore lost a touchdown to Robert Turbin. Fantasy owners were hoping for more in this game…Rishard Matthews didn’t score, but he’s a top-20 fantasy wide receiver…Dwayne Allen suffered a bad drop on what would’ve been a 40-yard TD…I’m still not sure how T.Y. Hilton came away with this in the end zone on fourth down…Donte Moncrief has nine touchdowns over the last 11 games in which he’s played with Andrew Luck.

Rough game by the Chiefs, who sacked Jameis Winston just once at home with Justin Houston returning. Winston had been sacked multiple times in each of his past eight games…Brutal interception thrown in the end zone by Alex Smith, as the Chiefs likely ended many survivor entries…I expected a much bigger game from Spencer Ware…Doug Martin got just 2.6 YPC, but he looks like a true workhorse and remember, the Bucs get the Saints twice during the fantasy playoffs.

Carson Palmer looks just about done. It wasn’t the easiest matchup, but Michael Floyd, John Brown and J.J. Nelson combined for 21 yards on 14 targets…Stefon Diggs was shadowed by Patrick Peterson (including in the slot, where he usually doesn’t defend), so Diggs owners shouldn’t worry about the poor outing. Diggs will go back to being a borderline WR1 moving forward.

Jay Cutler played better, but the Bears were shut out in the second half, and he’ll now be without Zach Miller (to go along with Alshon Jeffery). Jordan Howard had twice as many targets (eight) as any other Chicago receiver, although he turned that into just one catch for 22 yards…Rashad Jennings is separating himself from the younger Paul Perkins…The Giants are 7-3 and have yet to win a game by more than a touchdown this season.

Song of the Week: The xx – “On Hold”

The Rams somehow lost a game in which they were lining up for a field goal up 10-0 with five minutes left. Jared Goff executed one of the most vanilla game plans you’ll ever see, rarely throwing a pass 10 yards down the field. You’ll want to stream any fantasy defense facing the Rams down the stretch, and Kenny Britt is going to be awfully tough to use…This Jarvis Landry TD was a strong group effort…Todd Gurley recorded his first rush of the season that went for 20 yards Sunday, yet he still finished with just 3.8 YPC. Gurley has topped 100 rushing yards once over his last 18 games…These teams combined to go 3-for-23 on third downs, while Jeff Fisher made his first challenge of the season…Miami punted the most times (10) in a game this year, while Johnny Hekker has back-to-back games with a punt that’s traveled 75+ yards…The Dolphins have won five straight games and get the 49ers at home in Week 12.

This 72-yard TD run by C.J. Prosise was sick, and it’s too bad he’s now out with an injury. His injury, however, gives Thomas Rawls the upside to be a top-five fantasy back down the stretch. He looked healthy Sunday and is going to be a major difference maker now…The Doug Baldwin to Russell Wilson connection proved deadly. Toward the end of the third quarter, Wilson had as many receiving yards (15) as the Eagles wide receivers had combined…Zach Ertz finally scored for the first time this year, and he had another long TD called back because of a penalty that didn’t affect the play…In a game filled with backfield injuries, the loss of Ryan Mathews (and Darren Sproles) makes Wendell Smallwood the No. 1 waiver wire priority this week.

Longread of the Week: Venezuela, A Failing State

Playing near where he grew up for the first time in his 17-year career, Tom Brady tossed four touchdowns without any picks in a game that had stretches of poor weather conditions…This Brady to Malcolm Mitchell connection was nice…Of course Martellus Bennett puts up a dud with no Rob Gronkowski, as he was the obvious chalk DFS play of the week…Julian Edelman got just 77 yards on 17 targets, but at least he scored his second touchdown of the year…San Francisco has lost nine straight games after winning in Week 1 by a score of 28-0.
