The 108th running of the Indianapolis 500 is almost here.
The crown jewel of the IndyCar Series, the race will take place at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana.
Josef Newgarden of Team Penske is the defending champion, and he will look to become the first American racer to repeat at the Indy 500 since Al Unser (1970, 71). The last racer of any nationality to repeat was Brazilian Hélio Castroneves, who did so in 2001 and 2002.
Team Penske swept the front row in qualifying, with Scott McLaughlin taking the pole position. Will Power will start second and Newgarden, third.

It is projecting be a wet Sunday at the Brickyard, with a significant chance for rain in the forecast. According to the National Weather Service, as of Thursday afternoon, there is a 70% chance of precipitation projected for Sunday at 12:45 p.m. ET, the time of the start of the race. There is also a chance of thunderstorms. Any potential showers might not be passing, either; the projected chance of precipitation will peak at 80% from 2 p.m. ET through 7 p.m. ET.
The projected temperature at the start of the race is expected to be 75 degrees, with winds blowing at around 10 miles per hour.
Aside from the high likelihood of rain, cloudy conditions are expected throughout the day.
