Wazzu to Mizzou: Tigers football adds former Washington State corner via portal
Former Washington State cornerback Stephen Hall is transferring to Missouri, according to a Saturday report from On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
Hall is the Tigers’ first transfer portal addition since their season ended with a 27-24 win over Iowa in the Music City Bowl victory this past Monday. He is also MU’s first cornerback transfer commitment.
Hall spent three seasons at Northwest Mississippi Community College and was named to the All-Mississippi Association of Community College Conference North Division first team following his third year with the team.
Hall then transferred to Washington State, where he racked up 70 tackles (seven for loss) and four passes defended in two seasons. He returned his lone interception with the Cougars 100 yards for a touchdown in the 2024 season opener against Portland State on Aug. 31, then followed that up with 11 tackles (one for loss) in a 37-16 home win over Texas Tech on Sept. 7.
The 6-foot, 195-pounder from Memphis, Tennessee, was listed as the No. 674 player and No. 71 cornerback in the transfer portal, according to On3.
With the recent ruling on Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia stating that junior college years don’t count against NCAA eligibility, Hall might have two years of eligibility left or just one.
MU returns all three starting corners next season, in Dreyden Norwood, Toriano Pride Jr. and Nicholas DeLoach. Hall provides a mix of depth and competition to a position group that struggled at times in 2024.
Hall is the 14th transfer to join Mizzou’s class and the seventh on the defensive side of the ball.
DB Sensabaugh enters portal
Mizzou defensive back Jaren Sensabaugh announced on his X account Saturday that he has entered the transfer portal.
The former four-star recruit retained his redshirt after playing just six snaps for the Tigers in 2024, all in the season opener against Murray State.
Sensabaugh — a Nashville product who decommitted from Vanderbilt on Nov. 12, 2023, then committed to Mizzou a little more than a month later — will have four years of eligibility remaining. The 6-foot, 179-pounder is the 11th MU player and the sixth from the Class of 2024 to enter the portal this cycle.
WR Johnson, S Carnell plan returns
Sophomore wide receiver Marquis Johnson and redshirt junior safety Daylan Carnell confirmed Tuesday on their respective X accounts that they will be returning to Mizzou next season.
Johnson has emerged as a deep threat in two seasons with the Tigers. He had seven catches for 122 yards and a touchdown in the bowl win over Iowa to finish the 2024 campaign with 25 receptions for 352 yards. The 5-foot-11, 187-pounder had 13 catches for 383 yards and three TDs as a freshman.
With the departures of Luther Burden III, Theo Wease Jr. and Mookie Cooper, Johnson and Mississippi State transfer Kevin Coleman Jr. figure to be key targets in the Tigers’ passing game next season. Mizzou also lost receiver Mekhi Miller in the transfer portal; he committed to Tulsa on Friday after catching 22 passes for 311 yards and one touchdown in three seasons with MU.
A two-year starter, Carnell recorded 51 tackles (23 solo, five for loss), seven passes defended, two forced fumbles and a fumble recover this season. The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder has 133 tackles (77 solo, 13 for loss), 24 passes defended, four interceptions, three sacks, two touchdowns, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in four seasons with the Tigers.
GA Williams going back to FSU
Per a Saturday report from Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports and 247Sports, Florida State has hired Mizzou graduate assistant Cooper Williams as its assistant offensive line coach.
Williams worked with the Tigers’ O-line this season after previously spending the previous three with the Seminoles.
The former Memphis offensive lineman played for Florida State coach Mike Norvell at Memphis from 2014-16, then worked as a student assistant for the Tigers in 2017 and moved into an analyst role in 2018 and 2019 before following Norvell to FSU.
