The NHL preseason continues on Tuesday night as the New York Islanders and the New York Rangers face off.
Last season, the Rangers were 55-23-4 and first in the Metropolitan Division while the Islanders were 39-27-16, third in the Metropolitan Division.
In the playoffs, the Rangers advanced to the conference finals where they lost in six games to the Florida Panthers while the Islanders lost in the first round against the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Islanders opened the preseason with a 4-2 win over the New Jersey Devils. Julien Gauthier, Simon Holmstrom, Anders Lee and Cam Thiesing each scored goals in the match while Kyle MacLean, Adam Pelech, Maxim Tsyplakov and Oliver Wahlstrom recorded assists.
The Rangers also opened the preseason with a win, defeating the Boston Bruins 3-2 on Sunday. Filip Chytil, Victor Mancini and Alex Belzile scored goals in the win, with Chytil and Mancini also had assists. Four other Rangers recorded an assist as well: Anton Bildh, Jonny Brodzinski, Will Cuylle and Connor Mackey.
