About the soccer event

Saturday’s match is the final stop of a three-city tour featuring renowned Premier League soccer clubs Arsenal, Liverpool F.C. and Manchester United. The “Rivals in Red Tour” first saw Liverpool and Arsenal face off at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on July 21, then had Arsenal play Manchester United at Sofi Stadium in Los Angeles on July 27. This weekend marks the largest international soccer match in South Carolina history.

“This event offers a rare opportunity to watch in person two of the best Premier League teams right here in Columbia,” USC president Michael Amiridis said in a release. “As a lifelong European football fan, I look forward to joining tens of thousands of spectators at Williams-Brice Stadium for a great match.”

Where can you buy tickets?

The final stop on the Rivals in Red Tour sold out in February just over one day after ticket sales opened. But resale tickets are available on Ticketmaster and range from around $83 to $1,300 as of midweek.

Parking, weather and banners

  • Parking: South Carolina athletics is coordinating parking in the following lots: Gamecock Park, State Fairgrounds and Woodstock. Gamecock Park is sold out, but the fairgrounds and select spaces at Woodstock are still available for pre-purchase. Businesses around the arena may offer parking as well. Parking pass holders with handicap placards or tags/license plate can park in designated handicap spaces at Gamecock Park or the fairgrounds.

  • Weather and heat management: The National Weather Service projects a high of 96 degrees Saturday. Fans are allowed to bring one empty, clear, disposable plastic water bottle per person or one sealed, clear plastic disposable water bottle (i.e., Dasani water bottle) into into Williams-Brice. Bottle filling stations will be set up throughout the stadium near existing water fountains. Water monsters will also be available throughout the stadium, where fans can fill their bottles for free. Keep an eye on the forecast. There’s a 70% chance for showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.

  • Banner policy: Banners, signs and flags will be admitted to Williams-Brice Stadium on Saturday, but they must meet the following criteria: no larger than 3-feet-by-5-feet; cannot be attached to a pole or stick; may not be hung, attached or displayed on any part of the building; must not contain offensive or obscene language; and any graphic depictions “must be in good taste and contain no depictions that would offend or embarrass other patrons.”
