Watch as snowboarder collides with sprinting bear on California slopes
Video captured the terrifying moment a bear struck a snowboarder while it was running in the middle of the slopes in California.
The incident happened last weekend at Heavenly Ski Resort in Lake Tahoe, multiple outlets reported. The video shows the bear colliding with Ekalak Lakshana's friend Hunter Martinez before running away, Snowboarder Magazine reported. Lakshana, who captured the video and posted it online, recounted to magazine how the interaction occurred quickly.
“When I saw the bear coming at me, all I could think was, ‘Today is not the day − you’re not catching me!’" he told the outlet. “I’ve seen bears near the slopes before, but never one running right in the middle like this."
According to the magazine, Lakshana said that after checking on his friend, he "gave me a fist bump before cruising down the slope, so all ended well."
