Watch: Ryan Shazier posts video of himself working out
Injured Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier told teammate Roosevelt Nix on Nix’s podcast last month that not only does he intend to play again, he wants to make it to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
It sounds a little far-fetched given that Shazier suffered a spinal injury on Dec. 4 in a Monday night game against the Bengals and appears to still require the use of a wheelchair (though he can stand on his own), but maybe not when you see the Pro Bowler at work.
On Friday morning, Shazier posted video of himself on Instagram, doing pull-ups in a gym.
No, it’s not running on a treadmill, but when you suffer an injury like Shazier’s all progress is positive progress:

The 25-year-old wrote that his fiancee, Michelle Rodriguez, has been working out, so he felt the need to get a workout in too.
The couple were at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh on Thursday night, which is hosting first- and second-round NCAA men’s tournament games, including the East region’s top seed, Villanova, which beat No. 16 Radford on Thursday.

Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert said at the NFL combine last month that Shazier won’t play in 2018 – “He knows that and we know that,” Colbert said – but he will have some kind of role with the team. Beyond 2018, who knows?
