Real Madrid’s defeat to Barcelona in El Clasico was a massive blow to the team’s already weak momentum as it marked the end of the one factor the hosts had in their favour – an unbeaten streak in La Liga.

The Catalans scored four goals past Los Blancos on the night, humiliating the Merengues at their own den in front of thousands of fans flocked to the stadium.

Also in the stadium on the night was Real Madrid president Florentino Perez who was on the most difficult seat in the room – right next to Barcelona president Joan Laporta and the cameras of DAZN followed his reactions throughout the game.

Silenced for real

Laporta had a special day out at the Bernabeu and was confident even before kickoff. He even greeted a Barcelona fan while waiting for Perez’s arrival.

He celebrated Robert Lewandowski’s second goal in particular with the gesture of a header, while Perez regretted that goal with a serious sense of disappointment.

After the Polish striker’s double, the Barcelona president winked at a Barcelona fan, all while Perez sat there stunned and silent.

In the end, the Real Madrid president had no choice but to congratulate Laporta on Barça’s victory with a “very good” and a small touch on the thigh.

The president even went down to the dressing room to meet the player after the game but was understandably disappointed for it is very difficult to swallow a pill like a 4-0 thrashing at home in El Clasico.

Los Blancos now have a week off and will only return to action next weekend against Valencia at Mestalla where they will be determined to return to winning ways.
