How to watch Raiders vs Chargers: Start time, TV info for NFL kickoff
The Las Vegas Raiders and Los Angeles Chargers will each start their 2024 NFL seasons by rekindling a long-standing AFC West rivalry at SoFi Stadium on Sunday.
The game will mark a regular-season Chargers debut for head coach Jim Harbaugh, who joined Los Angeles in January after a 5-12 2023 season saw the team move on from Brandon Staley. With what is regarded as a favorable schedule and Harbaugh's prior success quickly turning the San Francisco 49ers around, the Chargers seem poised to improve. Quarterback Justin Herbert will have to be on top of his game, and a defense that conceded the third-most points of any AFC team last season will have to take a step forward.
Las Vegas, meanwhile, is hoping to improve after an 8-9 record saw the team finish two wins away from a wild card playoff spot. Last season was chaotic, but interim head coach Antonio Pierce sparked a turnaround that saw the lightly-regarded Raiders finish the season 5-4, earning the full-time head coach gig in the offseason. With a new quarterback in Gardner Minshew and the high-profile addition of defensive tackle Christian Wilkins, the Raiders are hoping to claim what would be the team's third playoff appearance since the end of the 2002-03 season.
