On Sunday, Nebraska hosted Iowa and got a straight set win, marking the 'Huskers third win in a row. Merritt Beason has been a dominant force at outside hitter. She finished the game with a team-high 10 kills on 20 swings. Lexi Rodriguez covered the back court, finishing the game with 12 digs to lead the defensive efforts.
Meanwhile, Purdue's most recent win also came in straight sets. The team beat Michigan State on Sunday. Against the Spartans, the team hit .252 with Eva Hudson and Chloe Chicoine leading the offense with 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Lourdès Myers had an impressive .556 kill percentage, with five kills on nine swings. Defensively, the team was led by Ali Hornung, who finished the game with 22 digs to hold the Spartans to a hitting percentage of .104.
It's not going to be an easy task to beat the Cornhuskers in their building, but if the Boilermakers can put together a well rounded performance, they definitely have a chance. Last season was an intense matchup that had 37 ties. There were 21 lead changes in one of the longest matches of the season that resulted in a five-set win for Nebraska.
