Watch: Highlights as Jimenez scores brace in Milan Futuro’s first game and win

Milan Futuro played their first official game this evening as they faced Lecco in the Coppa Italia Serie C. While there were some nerves before the clash, the Rossoneri convincingly clinched the win in the end as Alex Jimenez scored a brace.

Daniele Bonera fielded a strong, albeit young, starting XI as the likes of Alex Jimenez, Davide Bartesaghi, Mattia Liberali and Francesco Camarda played from the first minute. While it wasn’t complete dominance at the start, the scoreline was convincing in the end.

Liberali, who was brilliant during the US pre-season, opened the scoring as he capitalised on a mistake by the Lecco goalkeeper. All he needed to do was hit the target and he did so well with his weaker foot.

Then, in the 49th minute, the home side were awarded a penalty due to a fould by Diego Sia, Fortunately for Milan Futuro, the goalkeeper Lapo Nava made an absolutely stunning penalty save as he dove the right way and was fully stretched.

So instead of 1-1, Milan were able to double their lead in the 66th minute through Jimenez, who did what he does best before firing an absolute rocket past the goalkeeper.

In the 83rd minute, Marco Nasti hit the crossbar and just as it looked like the game would finish 2-0, Jimenez took matters into his own hands again. He calmly slotted home the 3-0 goal with his left foot, giving Milan Futuro the perfect first official game and win.

Milan Futuro (4-2-3-1): Nava; Jimenez, Minotti, Bartesaghi, Bozzolan; Zeroli, Sandri; Cuenca, Liberali, Sia; Camarda.
