Country fans, buckle up for a new kind of competition show. Reese Witherspoon and Kacey Musgraves are joining Jimmie Allen, Mickey Guyton, and Orville Peck for a search like no other. Country music's next big star could be anywhere, so that's why Apple TV+'s My Kind of Country is embarking on a global search in this unique competition series.

Just in time for the show's March 24 premiere, Country Living caught up with the talented panel of judges to see what fans can expect from the next singing competition that you're going to want to add to your rotation.

"Country music is such a universal language and genre," exclaimed Mickey. As an artist herself who continues to break down barriers in the industry, the "Remember Her Name" singer is especially excited to bring artists from around the world together. And, although they may look or sound different, they've all got one thing in common—they live, breathe, and love country music.

As an artist known for stepping into his own, unique style unlike any other, Orville appreciated the show's format because, "It never felt scripted or produced. It all just felt very authentic and sincere. I think at the heart of this show there is so much sincerity to it, which is in my opinion what I think is very different from a lot of those shows that could sometimes typically lack a little bit of that."

Jimmie also noted that witnessing the contestants from around the globe bring their all to the competition show was inspiring. "Watching them, it really solidified the fact that being you is enough. You're the only person who can tell your story."

He later went on to emphasize that My Kind of Country was created to show audiences that you don't have to be the cookie-cutter image to be a successful country musician. "We don't want to take away what people love about [country music], but we want to change how it's viewed. This is a place where everybody can do country music," he explained.
