Washington Commanders at Denver Broncos: Predictions, picks and odds for NFL Week 2 game

The Denver Broncos (0-1) seek redemption after they lost their home opener when they return to Empower Field at Mile High to face the Washington Commanders (1-0).

Head coach Sean Payton showed some pizzazz when he called an on-side kick to open the game against AFC West rival Las Vegas Raiders. But that was all the glitz the Broncos could manage in the loss.

As for the Commanders, they started off slow against the Kyler Murray-less Arizona Cardinals. But quarterback Sam Howell was able to rally his team in the fourth quarter to pull off the win.

Will Russell Wilson be able to ride his way back to victory? Or will Howell's fresh energy overpower the vet?

Lorenzo Reyes: Commanders 17, Broncos 14

Sean Payton’s debut in Denver was rather underwhelming; Russell Wilson was far more efficient but the Broncos lacked all explosiveness and did not have a downfield passing attack. Sam Howell was inconsistent and Washington’s downfield passing game was ineffective. The Commanders, however, have better weapons on offense.

Tyler Dragon: Broncos 20, Commanders 17

The Broncos lost their home opener after Sean Payton created headlines this offseason. If the Broncos start 0-2 people are going to begin to worry about this club. Both the Commanders and Broncos have good defenses, but Russell Wilson will cook just enough to give Denver a much-needed win.

Victoria Hernandez: Broncos 19, Commanders 17

In Week 1, the Broncos were less exciting than watching paint dry while the Commanders exemplified what I was taught as a high school football manager: four quarters. I'm picking Denver again because they are at home and their defense is solid. If they lose again, you know the saying: Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...

Jordan Mendoza: Broncos 21, Commanders 16

Denver barely missed out on a win in Sean Payton’s Broncos debut, and Russell Wilson will need to play better if they want to avoid another disappointing season. The offense has a better outing while keeping Sam Howell and Washington away from another win.
