Warren Zaïre-Emery withdraws from France squad with injury
The French Football Federation (FFF) have confirmed that Warren Zaïre-Emery (18) has withdrawn from the France squad, ahead of Monday’s match against Belgium.
The Paris Saint-Germain midfielder came on towards the end of Les Bleus’ 3-1 defeat to Italy, at the Parc des Princes on Friday. He will not feature at all on Monday against Belgium as Didier Deschamps’ men look to bounce back from that UEFA Nations League defeat.
Zaïre-Emery has suffered an injury to his left calf and after undergoing medical tests and consulting with Deschamps, as well as doctor Franck Le Gall, it was decided that the midfielder would not be fit to face Belgium. It is a blow for France, but also for PSG.
It has been a difficult international break for Les Parisiens, with new signing Désiré Doué and Vitinha also withdrawing through injury. Zaïre-Emery is now uncertain to face Stade Brestois next weekend, whilst his participation in PSG’s first UEFA Champions League encounter, against Girona on 18th September, is also in doubt.
