“I want to play more!”: Christian Eriksen issues Man United demand while on international duty

Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen has reiterated his wish to play more regularly.

Last season, Eriksen saw his playing time significantly reduced. This was partly due to injury and also as a result of the emergence of young Kobbie Mainoo.

It’s believed that throughout the summer transfer window, United were open to parting ways with the Denmark international but no concrete bids for him arrived.

A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Ajax were keen on re-signing Eriksen but a deal never got over the line.

Anderlecht also explored the possibility of a transfer but it didn’t materialise.

It emerged that La Liga outfit Real Betis approached United on deadline day to try and land Eriksen on loan but Erik ten Hag’s side turned them down, presumably because it would have left them with little to no time of identifying and securing a replacement.

Earlier this week, Eriksen’s agent, Martin Schoots, revealed that the 32-year-old indeed had proposals from Turkey, the Middle East. Major League Soccer and Anderlecht. Schoots further stated that he is confident his client will play more this season.

Eriksen spoke to Tipsbladet while away on international duty and addressed his situation at Old Trafford.

The player said, “I want to play more! I want to play something more.”

“I just think that the last thing is missing.”

The Dane added, “I think there were a couple of times where I could have done a little better in one way or another.”

“But the body is fine, and there are no flaws.”

Eriksen has been afforded just four minutes of action for United so far this term, coming on at the end of last weekend’s 3-0 home loss to Liverpool.

He was an unused substitute in the club’s 1-0 win against Fulham and subsequent 2-1 defeat at the hands of Brighton and Hove Albion.
