Marc Guehi has praised Manchester City duo John Stones and Kyle Walker for helping him ease into his first major tournament with England.

Vice-captain Walker and Guehi's central defensive partner Stones are two of the most experienced figures in the Three Lions' squad, having made 82 and 71 international appearances respectively.

Crystal Palace defender Guehi has been a standout performer for Gareth Southgate's side in the Euro 2024 group stages after stepping into the team to replace the injured Harry Maguire.

"Playing with John is an absolute dream," Guehi told a news conference on Thursday. "He makes my life so much easier and I am just following in his footsteps.

"Just seeing those two [Stones and Maguire] play at the highest level consistently, playing really well and never letting their country down has paved the way for me."

On 34-year-old Walker, Guehi added: "Top, unbelievable player. His tenacity and leadership shows in tough moments. His pace definitely helps a lot in any situation. His reading of the game is fantastic but he's not just a one-trick pony, he reads the game so well too.

"I think what builds confidence is togetherness and performances.

"We haven't lost a game yet. It’s important for us to control what we can control."
