Stefan De Vrij has benefitted from Francesco Acerbi’s injury woes to play a lot more consistently than in the past campaign. His future is uncertain due to a short-term contract. He addressed that and more talking to Il Giornale.

“It’s up to Inter to decide. They have an option to keep me for another year. I’m very happy here. Every game at San Siro in front of our fans is an extraordinary experience. When my family members fly in from the Netherlands or other players come in for the Champions League, they are all fascinated. I invest a lot to stay fit. They say it’s harder after turning 30, but I feel well physically. I have many interests, but I hope to retire as late as possible.”

De Vrij addressed the recent romp of his former team, Lazio.

“We expected an important performance even though we were defying an opponent that plays well and with a lot of enthusiasm on a difficult pitch. I’ve had great years and magnificent memories there. I respect them, but I try to do my best with these colors now. The boos have always been there after my transfer, and I accept them. I’m experienced and focus on what I need to do. I’m reserved and tranquil, but I’m aggressive like a Roman when I’m driving. That city gave me a lot, and it taught me how to enjoy life, but my family and I are great in Milan. The lifestyle is more similar to the North Europe here.”

As Simone Inzaghi revealed, De Vrij will be a late call for Monday’s clash with Como due to knee soreness.
