Here are the nominees for The Herald’s high school athlete of the week. The poll closes at noon Friday.

Jaden Alexander, Lancaster cross-country: The Bruins’ senior won the 5K race on his home course in 20 minutes, 9.60 seconds on Sept. 24.

Alexander’s efforts helped the Lancaster boys’ cross country team to a runner-up finish at the same meet.

Addison Burke, Legion Collegiate volleyball: The Lancers’ senior outside hitter had 18 kills, four aces and two digs in a 3-1 win at Weddington Sept. 24.

Burke, an Eastern Kentucky signee, has led Legion Collegiate to an 18-4-3 record this season.

Kason Cannup, Rock Hill football: The 6-foot, 170-pound junior quarterback went 17 of 24 for 271 yards passing and five touchdowns in a 35-28 win over Indian Land Sept. 28.

Cannup, who also rushed for 131 yards on 11 carries, has helped Rock Hill to a 3-3 record this season.

Mathias Hoerschgens-Ham, Northwestern swimming: The Trojans’ senior won all four events he competed in, including the 50 freestyle, the 100 freestyle, 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay at the “Cross Town Throw Down” against Riverwalk Academy, Rock Hill and South Pointe at Rock Hill Aquatic Center Sept. 26.

Hoerschgens-Ham also led the Northwestern boys’ swim team to victory at the same meet.

Gideon Nash, Riverwalk Academy cross-country: The Lions’ sophomore ran an 18:53.20 to finish as runner-up at Rock Hill High Sept. 25.

Just four days before, Nash ran a personal-best 17:53.80 to finish fourth at the Hare and the Hounds’ Invitational at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte.

Adrian Paredes-Carrillo, Fort Mill swimming: The Yellow Jackets’ senior won the 200 individual medley and helped the 200 and 400 medley relays to victory at the “Fort Mill Fallout” against Catawba Ridge and Nation Ford at Fort Mill Aquatic Center, Sept. 26.

Paredes-Carrillo, who also finished second in the 100 butterfly, also led the Fort Mill boys’ swim team to victory at the same meet.

Marvin Randolph, Buford football: The 6-foot, 185-pound junior running back/cornerback had two rushes for 79 yards and two touchdowns in a 41-36 win over North Central, Sept. 28.

Randolph also had two fumble recovery returns for touchdowns (10 and 85 yards) and eight tackles in the same game.

Buford is 2-4 overall this season.
