Below are the nominees for The Herald’s high school athlete of the week.

This week’s nominees
Josh Ameo, Nation Ford football: The Falcons’ senior wide receiver had 15 catches for 225 yards and three touchdowns in a 35-30 loss to River Bluff Sept. 6.
Ameo, a St. Joseph’s University lacrosse commit, has 21 catches for 288 yards and three scores for Nation Ford (1-2) this season.
Alivia Cleveland, Fort Mill cross-country: The Yellow Jackets’ junior finished as runner-up in the Girls’ International 5K at the Eye Opener Invitational in Spartanburg Sept. 7. Cleveland helped the Fort Mill girls’ cross-country team to victory at the same event.
Cleveland also won the 5K in 18 minutes, 30 seconds at a home meet, while also helping her Fort Mill team to victory Sept. 3
Tayshon Freeman, York football: The 6-foot-2, 220-pound junior quarterback went 10 for 16 for 146 yards and four touchdowns passes, while running for another score in a 49-12 victory at Union County Sept. 6.
Freeman has passed for 576 yards and eight touchdowns, while rushing for one score for York (1-2) this season.
Jamol Horton, Indian Land football: The 5-foot-9, 160-pound junior running back carried the ball 20 times for 205 yards and two touchdowns in a 39-21 win at Andrew Jackson Sept. 6.
Horton has 370 yards and four touchdowns on 55 carries for Indian Land (3-0) this season.
Dominic Impens, Fort Mill swimming: The Yellow Jackets’ junior won all four events he competed in, including the 100 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay at the Upstate Invite at Fort Mill Aquatic Center Sept. 7.
Impens’ efforts also helped the undefeated Fort Mill boys’ swimming to victory at the same event.
Pippin Joldersma, Rock Hill volleyball: The Bearcats’ senior middle blocker had 12 kills, two blocks and two digs in a 3-1 loss at Clover Sept. 3.
Joldersma also had 11 kills and eight blocks in a 3-0 victory over Indian Land Sept. 5.
Joldersma has 47 kills and 21 blocks for Rock Hill (5-3) this season.
Belle Kolatis, Nation Ford girls’ swimming: The Falcons’ junior won all four events she competed in, including the 50 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay at the Upstate Invite at Fort Mill Aquatic Center Sept. 7.
Kolatis’ efforts helped the Nation Ford girls’ swimming team to a runner-up finish at the same meet (to Fort Mill).
Sophie Larner, Legion Collegiate volleyball: The Lancers’ senior setter has 148 assists, 15 digs, 13 kills, nine blocks and eight aces as Legion Collegiate went 7-0, including winning the Westside High (SC) Tournament.
Legion Collegiate (12-1) also had wins at Dutch Fork (3-0, Sept. 3) and Palisades (3-1, Sept. 4) last week in addition to the tournament victory.
Wes Long, Northwestern swimming: The Trojans’ junior won the 100 freestyle and led the 200 freestyle relay to victory, while finishing as runner-up in the 200 freestyle and 200 medley relay in a six-team meet at Rock Hill Aquatic Center Sept. 3.
Long’s swim helped the Northwestern boys’ swim team beat Indian Land, Riverwalk Academy, Rock Hill and South Pointe while losing to Catawba Ridge at the same meet.
Haven Maddox, Clover football: The Blue Eagles’ senior kicker went 6-for-6 on extra points, 2-for-2 on field goals (from 31 and 44 yards) and had touchbacks on six of his eight kickoffs to helped Clover to a 48-12 win over Palisades Sept. 6.
Clover is 1-2 this season.
Judah Nash, Rock Hill cross-country: The Bearcats’ senior ran a personal-best 16:29 to finish fourth in a 5K at Fort Mill Sept. 3.
Nash also ran a 16:29.50 to finish eighth in the Boys’ Championship race at the Eye Opener Invitational in Spartanburg Sept. 7.
Kam Vance, Northwestern football, Jr.: The 5-foot-8, 160-pound junior wide receiver exploded for seven catches for 140 yards and three touchdowns in a 48-7 win over South Florence Sept. 6.
Vance has 24 catches for 377 yards and eight touchdowns for Northwestern (3-0) this season.
