Vitinha Takes an Indirect Shot at Kylian Mbappé After Summer Exit
Paris Saint-Germain have struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities, netting only two goals across their three UEFA Champions League matches. This raises the question: Is it time for PSG to rethink its reliance on superstar players?
Having a superstar on the field can change a game in an instant, with their individual talent often making the difference in tough situations. A moment of brilliance from these players can turn into a decisive goal or assist.
In recent years, PSG leaned on the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr., and Kylian Mbappé to deliver in crucial moments. Now, without them, there’s a noticeable gap in those defining, game-changing plays.
PSG midfielder Vitinha played alongside all three of these star players and recently noted how the dressing room compares this season to last campaign after the final superstar left this past summer.

Mbappé’s departure stirred plenty of conversation, but PSG chose not to bring in a direct replacement. Luis Enrique prioritized a more team-oriented approach, and Vitinha seems to like the change, believing PSG are now even stronger without the Bondy native.
“For me, this PSG team is stronger than last year, and it’ll only get better,” the PSG midfielder shared in an interview on Rothen s’enflamme on RMC Sport (h/t Le10Sport).
“Losing one of the best players in the world, someone who scores 50 goals, obviously changes the team dynamic—it changes everything. But I don’t see it that way. We’ve got plenty of players who can score.”
