Liverpool have had a season of records being broken and bizarre stats being made and their win over Crystal Palace was no different.

The victory against the South London side marked the Reds’ ninth in their first 10 games and this is only the third time this has been achieved in the club’s history.

In the end a Diogo Jota goal was the only thing that split the difference between the two clubs and Palace applied a lot of pressure to the Reds in the second half in particular.

Injuries to Alisson Becker and Alexis Mac Allister were the main talking points after the game but the injury to the former led to something that Liverpool haven’t seen in almost a decade.

Vitezslav Jaros’ incredible Liverpool statistic

When Alisson was taken off injured in the 79th minute against Palace he was replaced by Jaros, who was making his senior debut for the club.

By the end of the match, the Czech goalie had also made some history, becoming only the fifth goalkeeper to maintain a clean sheet after being subbed on for Liverpool.

The last time this happened was when Simon Mingolet replaced Brad Jones in a match against Burnley in December 2014.

This never happened under Jurgen Klopp and had only happened once before Saturday’s game in the last 20 years, showing just how rare it is.

Is Jaros likely to feature again for Liverpool this season?

Although he stepped up admirably to replace Alisson, Jaros is not the Reds’ second-choice goalkeeper.

That role is currently filled by Caoimhin Kelleher, who missed the match against Crystal Palace due to illness.

It looks like Alisson could be set for a spell on the sidelines so Kelleher will likely step up for Liverpool following the international break.

This means we are probably unlikely to see Jaros feature for the Reds again in the near future, however, the 23-year-old performed well and could get a chance with the games coming thick and fast for Liverpool between now and Christmas.

Liverpool fans will want to see Alisson back as soon as possible but they will have been more than happy with Jaros’ performance and the clean sheet he managed to keep.
