Match scorecard

Hampshire captain James Vince hit his second century in a week as the hosts dominated Kent in the County Championship on day one at Southampton.

After the top order had faltered to 56-3, Vince and wicketkeeper Ben Brown both hit tons as the hosts put on 245 for the fourth wicket to put Hampshire in command.

Vince had made 305 runs in 11 innings before exploding into form with an unbeaten 166 in last week's draw against Warwickshire.

This time he followed it up with 149 not out, while Brown also reached three figures late in the day on an unbeaten 106 as Hampshire ended the day on 310-3.

Earlier, Hants lost Fletcha Middleton, after his two fifties at Edgbaston last week, when he edged Grant Stewart before Nick Gubbins padded into his stumps off Australian Charlie Stobo, then Toby Albert loosely drove Joey Evison to second slip – and that was the last wicket of the day as Jack Leaning took the chance, not showing any ill effects from the broken hand which had kept him out for seven weeks.
