Video: ‘Motivated’ Buongiorno begins Napoli medical

Italy international Alessandro Buongiorno has begun his medical with Napoli: ‘Conte motivated me.’

Torino centre-back Buongiorno will complete a €40m transfer to the Stadio Maradona after undergoing his medical today.

The 25-year-old arrived at Rome’s Villa Stuart on Friday morning and confirmed he talked to Antonio Conte several times before accepting the club’s offer.

“He [Conte] was motivated, and he motivated me too,” said the defender.

“I am very happy. We have often spoken in this period.”

Napoli have already announced two signings, Leonardo Spinazzola and Rafa Marin and have started the pre-season in Dimaro.

Buongiorno won’t join his new teammates yet but will go on holiday before starting the pre-season with the Partenopei, given that he was part of Italy’s squad at EURO 2024.
