Lionel Messi’s time at Barcelona provided fans with innumerable moments of joy and unforgettable memories over the years. One such moment was the Argentine ace’s iconic celebration at Santiago Bernabeu in 2017 during El Clasico.

On that night, the World Cup winner scored a last-minute goal to give Barcelona a 3-2 win over Real Madrid before calmly removing his shirt and displaying his name to the stadium.

Now, over six years later, the same celebration returned to the Real Madrid stadium and Barça Universal provides an update on the event.

An exhibition showdown

The event that saw Messi’s cold celebration return to the Madrid-based stadium on Saturday was an exhibition match organized by Argentine streamer Ibai Llanos – La Velada del Año IV.

Llanos, as part of the event, engaged in a boxing match against his Spanish opponent Guanyar. His rival, however, suffered an injury during the bout, thus handing Llanos the win by default.

After being confirmed as the champion, the famous streamer darted to the corner to retrieve a Lionel Messi shirt and displayed the name to the crowd, recreating the celebration.

The Number 10 can return

Santiago Bernabeu has opened its doors to third-party events after its recent renovation, and it was only due to this new accommodation that Messi’s iconic #10 shirt returned to the stadium.

Later this year, however, Barcelona could well take to the field with a player donning the number 10 shirt, albeit with a different name.

Lamine Yamal, after his heroics over the past season and European Championship, has emerged as a strong candidate to carry forward the legacy of Barcelona’s number 10 jersey.

Considering that the team had no #10 last season, it would be a significant development in Catalonia.
