Victor Hedman first Lightning player to reach 600 assists
Tampa Bay Lightning captain Victor Hedman became the first player in franchise history to reach 600 assists on Thursday night against the Anaheim Ducks.
In November, the veteran defenseman earned the top spot on the Lightning's all time assist record, passing Martin St. Louis who recorded 588 assists throughout his 13 seasons in Tampa Bay.
Hedman was drafted back in 2009 and has played with the Lightning for the entirety of his career. In his sixteen seasons with the organization, he's won back-to-back Stanley Cups in 2020 and 2021, the Conn Smythe in 2020, and the Norris Trophy for the 2017-2018 where he recorded 63 points in 77 games with a plus-32 rating.
Hedman was named the 11th captain of the Tampa Bay Lightning back in September. He currently sits at 34 points, with 7 goals and 27 assists.
