Venus Williams reached a settlement with the family of a man who died after a car accident between the two in Florida last year, TMZ reported on Tuesday.

Williams caused a T-bone car accident in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, in June, 2017. She was reportedly driving through an intersection at five miles per hour when she “darted” into the street in front of another car, which struck her head on.

Williams said she attempted to move through the intersection, but traffic caused her to slow down and become “exposed in the intersection. She was not under the influence of alcohol or other drugs, and was not on a cell phone or other device during the accident. The 38-year-old was not injured in the accident, and the Palm Beach Gardens police department announced in December that she will not face criminal charges.

78-year-old Jerome Barson passed away two weeks later from head trauma damages from the accident. His wife, Linda, was driving the car, and suffered broken bones and other injuries in the crash.

Williams reached a settlement with Barson’s estate last week, though it was unclear for how much, according to TMZ.
